Jupiter in Gemini ~ June 11, 2012

The planet of expansion and adventure enters the sign of its detriment on June 11, 2012 at 1:23 p.m. EDT, when it begins a one-year stay in Gemini.

Jupiter transits pave the way for growth, hope and confidence in areas of life governed by its occupying house. Restraints seem to melt away during this time, and we’re more likely to go after what was once considered unrealistic, foolish or impossible. This is the time to take advantage of opportunities that come our way, otherwise the benefits of the transit will pass us by.

The adverse characteristics of Jupiter are overconfidence, laziness, sloppiness, neglectfulness and excess. Additionally, because Gemini is the sign of Jupiter’s detriment, the planet is considered debilitated during this transit. Planets in detriment aren’t necessarily weaker, but the debilitated planet’s energy is often used in inappropriate ways for the existing state of affairs.

Jupiter Transiting the 1st House: Gemini

A tour of the first house indicated personal growth and the arrival of new opportunities for advancement and development. This will be an optimistic time where you look to the horizon and plan for the future. Because the first house also relates to physical appearance, weight gain can be a probability, particularly for those with natal Jupiter in the first as well.

Jupiter Transiting the 2nd House: Taurus

The coming year will be a prosperous one for Taureans and Taurus Risings. Jupiter is known as the greater benefic, a moniker derived from the positive growth it typically brings. Earned income is likely to get a boost during this transit of the second house of earned income and values. As someone with natal Jupiter in the second, I know Jupiter can also result in high spending. There may be a sense that finances will smooth over regardless of budgeting or lack thereof. It would be wise to rein in spending during this period.

Jupiter Transiting the 3rd House: Aries

The opposite house of Jupiter’s traditional rulership, the third house governs communications, information, contractual agreements, correspondence, siblings, neighbor, transportation and short trips. Jupiter’s presence here will ease communications and give confidence to your ideas and either written or verbal delivery of them. You may decide to purchase an automobile during this time or find yourself travelling more than usual. Any contracts signed during this transit are likely to be profitable and beneficial over the next 12-year cycle, Mercury retrograde periods notwithstanding.

Jupiter Transiting the 4th House: Pisces

With Jupiter in the fourth house, you will exude confidence and optimism in real estate affairs. This is an ideal time for first-time home buyers, who may otherwise find themselves intimidated by the responsibility and commitment involved with buying a home. Since, with Jupiter, there is a tendency to overspend, take extra precautions to ensure you receive adequate value for your hard-earned money. Other investments in the home can also occur during this transits, including renovations or additions. You may even find your family grows during this time and find it easier to smooth over domestic tensions.

Jupiter Transiting the 5th House: Aquarius

This will be the very best time for single Aquarians to find love. The house of romance gets a boost of luck, as the planet of abundance brings multiple prospects into your life over the next 12 months. If already attached, use Jupiter’s presence to reinject fun and spontaneity back into your relationship. This is also an ideal time for couples planning for conception since the fifth house also governs children. Other favorable realms during this time include creative projects, gambling and speculation, lottery earnings, sports and games. This is a period of enjoyment and pleasure, so do just that – enjoy it!

Jupiter Transiting the 6th House: Capricorn

A Jupiter transit of the sixth house is an ideal time to find new work, so for Capricorns who are unhappy with their current positions or who have been out of work, the next 12 months will bring positive changes related to employment. Jupiter in this area of the chart is also said to usher in a period of good health and weight loss. Perhaps this holds true for many. No doubt, there will be an increased focus on matters of health and the body, but often this comes about by ailments and concerns that surface at this time. As someone who recently experienced this transit, my experience tells me this is a time of healing, but you may not have realized there was a problem before Jupiter’s entrance into the sixth. Health complications may crop up out of nowhere, but rest assured that knowing there is a problem is the first step to healing. Gemini is the sign of the twins, so the body’s “pairs” (lungs, hands, fingers, shoulders, ribs, etc.) may be of concern. (In my case, a transit through Taurus – which rules areas of the neck and throat – and a natal affliction to the ruling planet, Venus, meant thyroid problems became a concern for me.) In terms of weight loss, with Jupiter being the planet of expansion, you may find weight difficult to control during this period; this is nevertheless an ideal time to begin a new health regime.

Jupiter Transiting the 7th House: Sagittarius

A transit through the house of marriage and one-on-one relationships typically makes partnerships easier and more enjoyable, even profitable in the business realm. Any joint business affairs entered into at this time should bring prosperity if using caution and realism in these matters. Those who are romantically attached may find this transit of Jupiter beneficial to their relationships. You will experience increased optimism about the future of your relationship, and may consequently decide to take this to the next level. Take extra care with any plans to progress any relationship – romantic, business or otherwise – since over-optimism can result in bad decision-making. Also bewared of becoming lax or inattentive towards your partner at this time, which can inadvertently occur with the laziness associated with this planet.

Jupiter Transiting the 8th House: Scorpio

Financial matters are likely to come into focus at this time. This area of your chart governs loans, settlements, inheritances, taxes, insurance, commissions, royalties, alimony, child support, as well as your partner’s income. Transactions related to other people’s money will be seamless during this time, so now is the time to apply for loans or purchase insurance. Since credit should be easy to establish at this time, extra caution must be taken with accumulating debt. Your partner may begin earning more income, or unexpected royalties and commissions may be paid during this time. Since the eighth house also governs your sexual attitudes, you may become more playful at this time and are likely to enjoy your sex life during this period.

Jupiter Transiting the 9th House: Libra

The ninth house is Jupiter’s traditional placement. With the planet in accidental dignity in your chart, Jupiter will turn your attention to long distance travel, higher learning and abstract concepts such as philosophy and religion. In general, this transit urges you to broaden your horizon, whether in tangible or intangible form. Any legal or publishing affair should go over well or proceed with ease. For Librans who have legal matters to take care of in the coming year, the transit of Jupiter indicates a favorable outcome.

Jupiter Transiting the 10th House: Virgo

Since Jupiter’s placement in a chart indicates an area of growth, the coming year will mark the greatest period of professional advancement Virgos have seen in more than a decade. The 10th house governs public fame and honors, as well as career, which could result in a promotion over the next year. The work that is completed during this period will gain recognition from both higher ups and peers. Professionally, confidence will soar to the extent that your ego may become overinflated, particularly for Virgo Suns who will experience the Jupiter-square-Sun configuration with this transit, so rein yourself in as necessary.

Jupiter Transiting the 11th House: Leo

Your attention shifts from the self to the collective as Jupiter leaves the 10th house for the 11th, where groups and associations take on a greater presence in day-to-day affairs. Since Jupiter expands what it touches, you will find your circle of friends grows over the next 12 months. Increased social participation, possibly by joining associations, will color this period, along with an urge to further social causes that are fundamentally important to you. This is a time to venture outside of your existing social circle and comfort zone. Friends are also likely to be a source of support for you at this time.

Jupiter Transiting the 12th House: Cancer

The healing properties of Jupiter can lessen the undesirable qualities of 12th house transits. There are protective qualities to this planet, and when applied to the house of hidden enemies and self-undoing, this can certainly keep any harm at bay for the native. However, given that excess is no stranger to Jupiter, you may also be prone to overindulge in drugs or self-destructive tendencies. Awareness is key to making the most of this transit. Enjoyment through meditation and prayer can also benefit Cancer Risings and Suns during this period.

  1. mmm, i have many planets in gemini and all it has brought me so far is bad luck and it hasn’t even started it also brings death i know of many geminis on death’s door

    • Stephanie says:

Sorry to hear that, Melissa. Obviously I can’t comment without viewing your chart, but since Jupiter has just entered Gemini today, this bodes well for the planets in Gemini that you speak of. Many Geminis will experience their best year in over a decade between now and next June! As always, this doesn’t account for other transits, aspects and progressions.

      • what i am trying to say is that jupiter is not actually luck, it is the planet of expansion, it expands what it touches, so if your natal gemini touches squares etc it is not good luck. ps this eleven eleven malarky thing is also jupiter in gemini as jupiter’s number is 4 – just look at the euro finals last night, two goals scored in each half and balotelli taking his teeshirt off to reveal 3 1s on his back
