The planet of expansion and adventure enters the sign of its detriment on June 11, 2012 at 1:23 p.m. EDT, when it begins a one-year stay in Gemini.

Jupiter transits pave the way for growth, hope and confidence in areas of life governed by its occupying house. Restraints seem to melt away during this time, and we’re more likely to go after what was once considered unrealistic, foolish or impossible. This is the time to take advantage of opportunities that come our way, otherwise the benefits of the transit will pass us by.

The adverse characteristics of Jupiter are overconfidence, laziness, sloppiness, neglectfulness and excess. Additionally, because Gemini is the sign of Jupiter’s detriment, the planet is considered debilitated during this transit. Planets in detriment aren’t necessarily weaker, but the debilitated planet’s energy is often used in inappropriate ways for the existing state of affairs.

The opposite house of Jupiter’s traditional rulership, the third house governs communications, information, contractual agreements, correspondence, siblings, neighbor, transportation and short trips. Jupiter’s presence here will ease communications and give confidence to your ideas and either written or verbal delivery of them. You may decide to purchase an automobile during this time or find yourself travelling more than usual. Any contracts signed during this transit are likely to be profitable and beneficial over the next 12-year cycle, Mercury retrograde periods notwithstanding.

With Jupiter in the fourth house, you will exude confidence and optimism in real estate affairs. This is an ideal time for first-time home buyers, who may otherwise find themselves intimidated by the responsibility and commitment involved with buying a home. Since, with Jupiter, there is a tendency to overspend, take extra precautions to ensure you receive adequate value for your hard-earned money. Other investments in the home can also occur during this transits, including renovations or additions. You may even find your family grows during this time and find it easier to smooth over domestic tensions.

Jupiter Transiting the 5^th House: Aquarius

This will be the very best time for single Aquarians to find love. The house of romance gets a boost of luck, as the planet of abundance brings multiple prospects into your life over the next 12 months. If already attached, use Jupiter’s presence to reinject fun and spontaneity back into your relationship. This is also an ideal time for couples planning for conception since the fifth house also governs children. Other favorable realms during this time include creative projects, gambling and speculation, lottery earnings, sports and games. This is a period of enjoyment and pleasure, so do just that – enjoy it!

A Jupiter transit of the sixth house is an ideal time to find new work, so for Capricorns who are unhappy with their current positions or who have been out of work, the next 12 months will bring positive changes related to employment. Jupiter in this area of the chart is also said to usher in a period of good health and weight loss. Perhaps this holds true for many. As someone who recently experienced this transit, my experience tells me this is a time of healing, but you may not have realized there was a problem before Jupiter’s entrance into the sixth. Health complications may crop up out of nowhere, but rest assured that knowing there is a problem is the first step to healing. Gemini is the sign of the twins, so the body’s “pairs” (lungs, hands, fingers, shoulders, ribs, etc.) may be of concern. (In my case, a transit through Taurus – which rules areas of the neck and throat – and a natal affliction to the ruling planet, Venus, meant thyroid problems became a concern for me.) In terms of weight loss, with Jupiter being the planet of expansion, you may find weight difficult to control during this period; this is nevertheless an ideal time to begin a new health regime.
